The concert scene in Puerto Rico is packed this fall with an exciting array of performances from Latin music icons and international stars. Here's a rundown of some of the concerts taking place this season at various venues, including Puerto Rico's largest indoor venue, the Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot.
1.Ana Gabriel – November 27
The iconic Mexican singer Ana Gabriel will offer a night of emotional ballads and unforgettable music performed through her unique voice at the Coliseo. Among her most recognized hits are the songs "Simplemente Amigos", "Quién Como Tú", and "Es Demasiado Tarde."
2.Jerry Rivera – November 30
Rivera is a Puerto Rican salsa singer whose career has spanned more than 20 years so far. At the end of November he will be offering a concert at the Coliseo where he will surely sing a medley of his hits. The beginning of his song "Amores Como el Nuestro" was used for the song "Hips Don't Lie" by Wyclef Jean and Shakira.
3.Residente – December 7
The former Calle 13 vocalist and songwriter Residente closes the fall season with his unique blend of rap, reggaeton and lyrics inspired by social and political issues at the Distrito de Convenciones in San Juan. This concert is part of the tour "Las Letras Ya No Importan," which bears the same name as his latest album.
4.Trío Los Andinos with Eduardo Villanueva and Yezenia Cruz – December 7 and 8
For decades, the Trío Los Andinos has been part of the Puerto Rican musical tapestry, and this year is no exception. They will sing Christmas songs at the beginning of the month at the Móneró Café Teatro & Bar in the Centro de Bellas Artes in Caguas.
5.Haciendo Punto En Otro Son – December 21
One of the most recognized groups in Puerto Rico focused on Nueva Trova and Puerto Rican popular music, Haciendo Punto En Otro Son is currently composed of Silverio Perez, Josy Latorre and Nano Cabrera. In this show at the Yagüez Theater in Mayagüez, they have Alex Croatto and José Vega as guests.
6.Nydia Caro – December 22
Fifty years after her historic victory at the third OTI Song Festival, an international festival that had more than 20 editions, Caro is giving a concert at the Centro de Bellas Artes in Santurce. Among her hits are the songs "Cuéntale" and "Un Pueblo Es."
With a diverse lineup spanning reggaeton, salsa, Christmas music and more, there will be plenty of concerts taking place in Puerto Rico, including these six. They promise to offer a musical journey for different fans.
